HomeStrong USA provided critical health and safety repairs to the home of U.S. Navy Veteran, Rosalie DeMarco. Ms. Demarco served 14 years in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman. During her service, Ms. DeMarco was a Communication Technician at the Pentagon during the evacuation of Vietnam.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, Ms. DeMarco followed her dreams and became a teacher. In 2008, her dreams were cut short when she was involved in a head on collision which nearly took her life. While driving near her home one evening, a drunk driver who was involved in a high speed pursuit lost control of his car and hit Ms. DeMarco and her partner Sondy head on, hospitalizing them both. The injuries sustained from the car accident left Ms. DeMarco permanently disabled and forced her to retire 14 years early. The early retirement greatly impacted her monthly income and ability to make necessary repairs to her home.
Through its Heroes Home Repair Grant Program, HomeStrong USA was able to assist Ms. DeMarco with critical home repairs and accessibility modifications. HomeStrong USA is honored to provide a safer and healthier living environment for the DeMarco family.
